General description: dark red to reddish chestnut heartwood; compact, straight, fine grain (with dark medullary spots), fine textured. Presence of small pockets of resin-gum.

Uses: piping, musical instruments, furniture, cabinets, high quality carpentry, marine furnishings; wood turning, carved work; decorative veneer for furniture, cabinets, panelling, doors.
