General description: opaque reddish brown heartwood; usually straight grain (sometimes interlocked due to irregular growth rings), coarse texture from large spring wood pores.

Uses: furniture, cabinetry, chair and sofa frames, turning, salad bowls;home flooring blocks, chests, decorative venneering. If treated: boat-building, port works, keels, columns.
