General description: greyish-brown heartwood with darker irregular infiltrations forming smoky-coloured stripes, clearly distinguishable yellowish sapwood (the irregular pieces form quite prized burls), quite coarse texture.

Uses: solid and veneered furniture, cabinet-making, bank and office furnishings; rifle butts, sporting equipment, turning, in-lay work, car dashboards and frames; plywood, decorative veneer, cabinetry, in-lay work.
