General description: dark brown tending to black with fine well-defined yellowish veining heartwood (becoming quickily uniform on exposure to light), clearly distinguishable whitish, fine sapwood; quite straight grain, coarse texture. The typical and pleasing flame shape appears on the sides.

Uses: tends to split easily after drying. Mainly used for high quality flooring, in-lay work, deluxe furniture, boat and turning work.
