General description: orange to reddish-brown resinous heartwood. Differences depending on areas of spring wood growth and darker, denser?species of late growth: well-defined growth rings. Coarse texture, especially in rapid growth wood.

Uses: load-bearing structures, railway wagons, ship-building, port construction,?masts; bridge work, exterior finishings,?flooring, joinery, light construction; boxes, packing cases, benches.
